DeVon Franklin To Produce Faith Based Musical ‘Music To My Ears’
DeVon Franklin is partnering with Holly Carter to develop and produce “Music to My Ears.” The original live-action and animated hybrid musical will be released for 20th Century Fox’s newly created Fox Family division and Michael Elliot (Like Mike) will pen the script. The film is,
Based on an idea by Carter and story by Elliot, and it will mix live-action, animation and gospel music to tell the story of a young girl who needs a miracle. Little does she know her guardian angel is in need of one too. The two of them team up for a music competition that helps them save her grandfather’s community center.
Franklin will produce the film under his Franklin Entertainment. The 39-year-old also executive produced the animated faith based film “The Star” which tells the story of Jesus Christ’s birth, from the animals’ perspective, featuring the voices of Tyler Perry, Oprah Winfrey, Gina Rodriguez, Kristen Chenoweth, and Kelly Clarkson.
He also executive produced the 2016 hit film “Miracles From Heaven” starring Jennifer Garner and Queen Latifah. He is also attached to produce a TV series based on the cult favorite film “Foxy Brown” starring his wife, actress Meagan Good and “Cooley High” remake starring Common. His other upcoming faith-based projects include the Bible themed drama “The Scroll” in conjunction with Queen Latifah and Shakim Compere and an untitled modern musical adaptation based on the gospel of John.
