Actor Reg E. Cathey Dies At Age 59
Very sad news – actor Reg E. Cathey, known for his roles in the hit Netflix drama “House of Cards” and the HBO series “The Wire” has died. He was 59. His death was announced Friday night by David Simon, the creator of The Wire. Simone wrote,
Not only a fine, masterful actor — but simply one of the most delightful human beings with whom I ever shared some long days on set. On wit alone, he could double any man over and leave him thinking. Reg, your memory is a great blessing.
One of Cathey’s earliest roles was starring in the children’s television show Square One. This was followed by guest roles in such series as Star Trek: The Next Generation and Homicide: Life on the Street. Some of his other notable roles include Pootie Tang, The Wire, The Corner, Oz, Tank Girl, American Psycho, House of Cards and Fantastic Four.
He was reported to have been battling lung cancer. Condolences to his family and friends.
