EXCLUSIVE: Ex NFL Star Aldon Smith Hit w/ Lawsuit, Owes 100k In Credit Card Debt
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, former NFL star Aldon Smith is accused of charging nearly $120k on his American Express card, only to refuse to pay up when the bill came. On January 10, American Express sued Smith over an unpaid credit card bill. American Express explains they issued Smith a credit card back in 2008. They claim he used and paid his bill for four years with no issue.
However, he has refused to pay up on his current bill totaling $118,508.71. American Express says the debt has been due and Smith will not cough up the money, which was due in July 2017.
American Express is suing for the unpaid balance plus the costs of having to sue him in court.
Smith, who is an outside linebacker currently a free agent, has had legal trouble for the past six years. In 2012, Smith was arrested for driving under the influence in Miami Beach, Florida. In 2013, he was involved in a single vehicle accident in San Jose, California. In 2014, Smith was detained and arrested following an incident at the Los Angeles International Airport in which Smith became belligerent and uncooperative with a TSA agent, who alleged Smith claimed he was carrying a bomb. This month, someone called the police from Smith’s home and reported that he had consumed multiple bottles of tequila and then bit her wrists. Smith reportedly fled the home before police arrived. San Francisco police did not comment on the specifics, but did state that domestic violence of a “non-lethal” nature had occurred and they were seeking out Smith for questioning about the incident.
