Venus Williams – Car Crash Victim Family Says Tennis Star Plans to Change Her Story During Trial
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reports, the family of Jerome Barson says that Venus Williams plans to change her story in the upcoming trial over a car accident that left their family member deceased.
On June 9, 2017, Williams was driving in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, when another car collided with her SUV before she cleared the intersection, an accident that killed 78-year-old Jerome Barson and injured another person in the second vehicle. Police originally said she was “at fault” for the accident, but after reviewing surveillance video, they determined she had not caused it. She now faces a wrongful death lawsuit from Barson’s family.
According to newly filed docs, the family says the upcoming trial will involve a large number of experts. They claim that Venus has indicated her intent to allege that the Barson did not wear a seat belt, despite belt-marks noted by paramedics. They also claim that Venus has indicated her intent to deny having a red light, despite making contradictory statements in her deposition.
Barson’s family says that the medical examiner has already concluded that the crash was the cause of his death. They point out that the defendant (Venus) has not yet admitted it, and has not disclosed her intent in that regard.
