“Atlanta” Renewed For 3rd Season!
The cast of the TV show Atlanta on FX is celebrating tonight after the hit series was renewed for a third season.
The show has already received a Peabody award, two Golden Globes, and two Emmy awards.
Actor /rapper Donald Glover, who created the show, was the first African-American recipient to ever win an Emmy for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
No doubt, Glover has had a busy year thus far as he just starred in the new Star Wars movie, “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” He also just released his new song “This is America” as his alter ego Childish Gambino.
The critically acclaimed Atlanta television show first premiered in September 2016 with its comedic flair on sometimes dramatically intense storylines. The show features the relationship of two cousins, Paper Boi, played by Brian Tyree Henry and his cousin, Earnest, played by Donald Glover.
Paper Boi is an up and coming rapper on the verge of stardom while his cousin Earnest manages him in a highly cynical and sometimes oddly comedic fashion.
The show also features Zazie Beetz who plays Earnest’s on and off again girlfriend, and Lakeith Stanfield who plays the visionary and main sidekick to Paper Boi.
The second season of Atlanta premiered March of this year and is sure to be a contender in this year’s award season. The third season of Atlanta is expected to be released in 2019 with no word yet as to the exact date it will be airing.
