Chris Rock Warns Barack & Michelle About Netflix Deal
Chris Rock has words of advice for Barack and Michelle Obama. Last month, the Obamas signed a multi-year deal with Netflix to produce documentaries and other series for the streaming service. Rock, 53, hinted that he’d like to shield the former first family from the stresses of entertainment critics. He said,
I don’t want to live in a world where President Obama is worried about his Rotten Tomatoes score.
Continuing,
I want him above that at all times. Make your money, but I don’t want [him] to be involved with that.
In 2016, Rock signed his own stand-up comedy show deal with Netflix, which reportedly resulted in a $40 million payday.
Former President Obama said of his Netflix deal,
One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience. That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix — we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.
Will you be watching the Obamas on Netflix?
