Solange Knowles’ “Saint Heron” Teams Up With Ikea

Instead of waiting for “a seat at the table,” she decided to create her own instead! Singer/curator Solange Knowles’ “Saint Heron” brand announced their collaboration with Swedish company, Ikea Home Furnishings. “Saint Heron” broke the announcement on Twitter:

Saint Heron is excited to announce an upcoming creative collaboration with @IKEAtoday, exploring architectural and design objects with multifunctional use. Stay tuned for more information! #saintheron

The official press release reads,

Our brand, founded in 2013 is a multidisciplinary cultural hub with a focus on “building the community that we wish to see exist” through music, visual art, and performance art mediums. The hub has been centred on artist and artisan collaborations with previous works with Mickalene Thomas, Jacolby Satterwhite, Kenesha Sneed, and Phlemuns to name a few. Our founder, contemporary artist Solange Knowles and the company’s co-curator artist Armina Mussa have partnered to create original multimedia installations that creatively reflect on intersectional art and culture themes, foster thoughtful fellowship, and push the conversations of our communities to the forefront.

This announcement immediately followed Solange’s explanation of her daily inspirations – which makes the Ikea collaboration make perfect sense!

The wiz, sacred geometry, crop circles, ancient egyptian architecture, artwork by the legendary earth wind and fire and sun ra, donald judd, robert wilson, the bills bills bills video, noguchi, alvin ailey, trisha brown, holy mountain, mahogany, landscapes, the sun, the moon

The design concepts of Solange’s recent stageshows totally refelct the geometrical inspirations she revealed.

If the home decor Saint Heron and Ikea are cooking up look anything like Solange’s amazing stage sets, our coins are ready!
