Jesse Williams Ordered To Pay Ex $100,000 Per Month In Support
Grey’s Anatomy star, Jesse Williams’ messy custody battle with his ex-wife, Aryn Drake-Lee continues. theJasmineBRAND exclusively reported, Williams filed for divorce from Drake-Lee in 2017, after five years of marriage due to “irreconcilable differences.” Since the divorce, the pair have been back and forth in court with their lawyers fighting over child support payments, joint and sole custody, and spousal support.
New developments have emerged that Williams, 36, is ordered to pay roughly $100,000 a month – starting July 1 – in spousal support and child support for the ex-couple’s two children, Maceo, 3 and Sadie, 4. Drake-Lee filed court documents insisting Williams pay a whopping $73,369 month instead. These numbers are based on his monthly salary of $521,000, according to court documents.
In response to these requests, Williams served several arguments, citing while they were together,
We agreed that our children should live a simple life without wasting money on extravaganza.
He also argued he should not have to pay his ex-wife directly. Mentioning he should only have to pay her for third party payments – medical expenses and school tuition – which total out to a drastic decrease of $7,465 monthly.
As the judge ruled otherwise, the court also added the point of child support is so that the children can,
Share in a lifestyle and condition consistent with their parents’ current station in life.
Williams argues that throughout their divorce/custody battle she has continuously defaced his character, stating,
A constant theme throughout our divorce proceedings has been Aryn marginalizing me as a father and frustrating my custodial timeshare with the children.
Williams says he feels like he is being punished for having a career and working diligently to provide for their family. About a year ago, Williams and Drake-Lee were granted joint custody. While most of their
custodial time will be with the children’s mother, it is indentured Williams will spend time with his children every other weekend, two days out of the week, and every Father’s Day. As far as holidays, it
is documented the couple will alternate major holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Fourth of July.
theJasmineBRAND also reported the parents are only allowed to communicate via an app called Our Family Wizard. The app/website is designed to remove conflict between divorced parents in hopes their
children’s lives will improve. They’re only allowed to communicate by phone (text or call) in the case of an emergency.
Outside of child support, Williams is also ordered to compensate Drake-Lee’s legal fees which have accumulated to over $160,000. He previously paid $110,000. Drake-Lee also requested Williams fork over $25,000 every month towards the children’s college tuition.
