Missy Elliott and Janelle Monae are two artists who have had successful careers being “different”.  Missy, who’s never shied away from thinking outside of the box, took a moment to show Janelle some love on Twitter following the BET Awards. She wrote,

Janelle Monae is one of those artists that comes around only every few decades that artist that CREATES HER OWN LANE! She’s CUT FROM A DIFFERENT CLOTH! Great minds think alike keep doing ya damn thang Janelle.

Monae returned the love, tweeting:

I love you with all my heart Missy Elliott. YOU OPENED THE DOOR FOR ME to do me & I’m forever grateful. I learn from THE BEST, you, and that’s a blessing. You remain my musical hero for life ! (We cute !)
