Lena Waithe Cuts Off Signature Dreadlocks

The Emmy award-winning television writer, creator and actor, Lena Waithe has committed to a fresh new cut, after chopping off her signature dreadlocs. The Chi, creator took to Instagram this past weekend sporting a fade with the caption,

The big chop comes after her expressing interest in being the pillar to bringing together a diverse writers community in Hollywood stating,

It’s important to create opportunities for people who have a voice.

Waithe remains a shaken force in Hollywood, becoming the first black woman to nail an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series. Currently, she is prepping the second season of The Chi and a new comedy series about black lesbian women titled Twenties.
