T.I. Charged w/ Public Drunkenness & Disorderly Conduct
On the early morning of May 16th, T.I. was arrested in Atlanta while trying to gain entry to his gated community after he had allegedly lost his key. According to T.I., the security guard on duty was asleep and once T.I. woke him up, the security guard refused to let him in. According to the police report, T.I. was eventually allowed inside, but returned to the guard later and demanding his name. Words were exchanged and police were called. T.I. was arrested and later released on $2,250 bond.
The rapper has now been officially charged by Henry County prosecutors. According to reports, T.I. is facing charges of public drunkenness, simple assault and disorderly conduct. T.I.’s attorney calls the accusations “baseless, ill-founded and unjustified.” He also notes that the security guard involved in the altercation has been fired.
The misdemeanor charges brought against T.I. are baseless, ill-founded and unjustified. T.I. never threatened or acted in a violent manner towards Euwan James, the security guard. Indeed, we understand the security guard was fired for the way he handled the situation with T.I. We had sincerely hoped that the Henry County Solicitor had better, more important, things to do to serve the Henry County community than prosecute an African American over a verbal dispute during an encounter with a security guard who was asleep at his post and was unwilling to provide his name to T.I. so T.I. could report the guard’s misconduct to his employer.
Reportedly, T.I. isn’t facing any jail time.
