Fat Joe’s Business Partner Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
No one comes between Fat Joe and his sneaker collection! Twenty-one-year-old Scott “Scotty Kickz” Spina, business partner to rapper Fat Joe, was sentenced to 35 months in prison on Monday for stealing the credit card information of their customers.
Spina and Fat Joe co-owned Up NYC, a high end sneaker store in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood. Some of their clientele include host of “The Four,” DJ Khaled, rapper Jim Jones, and a host of professional athletes and musicians.
US District Judge Esther Salas handed him the sentence in a New Jersey court, after Spina plead guilty to one count of wire fraud. He reportedly admitted to stealing the credit card information of Up NYC customers to make personal purchases, and even falsely reporting purchases in his own account as fraudulent. Having been previously sued by the young sneaker guru for allegedly being “pushed out of the business,” Fat Joe revealed his own personal hardship with Scott Spina on Twitter. Responding to a story about Spina’s arrest he wrote:
The part they left out was he was robbing from me lol
In addition to being sentenced to nearly three years of the 20-year sentence he faced, Spina was also sentenced to three additional years of supervised release, and to pay over $500,000 in restitution.
One thing that can’t be questioned is Fat Joe’s passion for sneakers. Do you remember his shocking sneaker-lick on MTV Cribs? He once commented that the lick is to prove you’ve never worn the sneakers before. Watch him show off his sneaker collection in the video below, starting at the 4:45 mark:
Will Up NYC suffer because of Scott Spina’s credit fraud?
