Geoffrey Owens Lands Role On Tyler Perry’s “The Haves & the Have Nots”, Nicki Minaj Offers Actor Cash!

Geoffrey Owens is the man of the hour! The actor known for his role as Elvin Tibideaux on “The Cosby Show” has been all over news headlines, after he was photographed working at a New Jersey Trader Joe’s store. The local shopper that photographed him was seemingly shaming him for being a public figure turned cashier.

Geoffrey’s fellow actors, actresses, and other entertainment figures came to his defense, applauding him for making an honest living at Trader Joe’s. He confirmed he resigned from that job, and thanked the public. Geoffrey said:

“I kind of feel like that character in that Woody Allen movie that wakes up one morning and he’s a celebrity all of a sudden – it came out of nowhere. I really want to thank everybody out there — for the incredible support, the amazing support and positivity that they’ve shown for me. It’s quite astounding.”

But, he received the opportunity of a lifetime shortly thereafter. Tyler Perry tweeted:

According to reports, Geoffrey will be flying to Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, GA next week to shoot scenes for season six of “The Haves and the Have Nots.” He’ll not only have a role, he’ll be a recurring character for 10 episodes! Score!

The blessings don’t stop there. On a recent episode of Nicki Minaj’s “Queen Radio Show,” the raptress offered Geoffrey a cool $25K, considering his job loss. Entertainment Tonight tweeted what Nicki said:

Some took offense to Nicki’s offering, saying it eluded to Geoffrey Owens being a charity case. Twitter user @themakeda tweeted:
