Lamar Odom Allegedly Held For Ransom Over Gambling Addiction
Lamar Odom has been transparent about his battle with cocaine addiction in the past, but new reports are alleging he has a gambling addiction also. According to Radar Online, the habit has gotten so bad that in June, Odom was kidnapped and his ex-girlfriend, Savanna Waldrop and her daughter, were held at gunpoint due to his addiction reaching extreme heights. These questionable events took place in Portland, Oregon, where Odom was planning to visit Waldrop due to him having
“separation anxiety.”
Prior to his arrival, Odom explained to his ex-girlfriend how he wanted to partake in one of his alleged vices, which is gambling, but he was out of money. Sources say,
Savanna set up the loan and Lamar knew he had to pay it back no matter what. The bookies had no idea someone famous like Lamar didn’t have the cash to pay them back. Within 20 minutes the $10,000 was gone. He gambled it all — and lost!
Reportedly, Waldrop was in town visiting her family, and informed Khloe Kardashian’s ex-husband – before he came – not to visit her because she needed time alone with her family. Soon after, the bookmakers were looking for Odom in efforts to get back their money, and when they couldn’t find him, they began tracking down Waldrop and her family.
Sources allege,
Within 24 hours the bookies were harassing them, following them to their Airbnb and hotel, and waiting for them in the parking lot,” said the source. It got so bad, they threatened Savanna and her daughter with a gun and said they’d kill her. They kicked in the hotel door and came in with guns when they were all in bed.
Odom was kidnapped for two days in an attempt to scare the basketball player. Odom was finally freed after forking over at least $4,3000 after he pawned his golden necklace for $1,000, supplemented by his girlfriend adding an extra $500, and his camp shelving out at least $2,800.
With an alleged amount of $5,000 owed, the basketball star reportedly still hasn’t paid. After the turn of events, the ex-Lakers player went back to China where he currently plays basketball.
He has yet to release a statement on the ordeal.
