Jason Derulo Joins ‘Cats’ Movie With Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, And James Corden

Jason Derulo is the latest star to be added to the lineup of actors to appear in the upcoming Cats movie. The pop singer will make his acting debut in the big-screen adaptation of the classic musical. He will be joined by fellow celebrity heavyweights Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, James Corden, Judi Dench,  Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, and Rebel Wilson.

It has already been revealed that Elba will play Macavity, the villain who kidnaps Old Deuteronomy, the Jellicle leader, and attempts to kidnap Demeter. Hudson will play Grizabella the “Glamour cat”. Grizabella is an old, gray cat, withered by her age who goes to the Heaviside Layer to be reborn.

Derulo will play Rum Tum Tugger, a black tomcat with leopard spots on his chest. He’s very hard to please and does the opposite of what is expected of him to do. Andrew Lloyd Webber once said that the part of Tugger is intended to be an homage to Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones.
