Salim Akil Addresses Allege Sexual Abuse Accuser – This Is Deeply Upsetting & Totally Untrue
Salim Akil, has responded to the lawsuit that he’s facing by actress Amber Dixon Brenner. The Black Lightning show runner released the following statement through his attorney:
These allegations are deeply upsetting – but they are also totally untrue. We will defend Salim to the fullest against the false and offensive claims that a woman with whom he had a past relationship has included in multiple unsubstantiated lawsuits. Salim looks forward to clearing his name and to being able to focus on his work and his family.
As previously reported, last month Brenner filed lawsuit alleging that she’d had a sexual relationship with Salim, who is married to executive producer Mara Brok Akil.
In court documents, she alleged that physically and sexually abused her, claiming repeated
“non-consensual assault and battery.”
She is also suing the Salim, his wife Mara and Oprah’s OWN in federal court for copyright infringement, claiming Salim took a 2016 screenplay of hers using it as the basis for the couple’s OWN series, Love Is, produced by Warner Horizon TV.
Warner Bros TV has started an investigation on the CW series Black Lightening. OWN nor Oprah Winfrey have yet to comment.
