Willow Smith Plunged Into A Black Hole & Start Cutting Herself, Explains How She Forgave Dad Will Smith
Within the public eye, child stars tend to emerge on the straps of their own success like Demi Lovato, “Jessie” co-star Skai Jackson, or “black-ish” star Marsai Martin – or on the backs of their parent’s successful careers, like Willow Smith. In the first season of “Red Table Talk,” Willow revealed she cut herself after the heightened success of her single “Whip My Hair,” which was released when she was 10 years old.
During Monday’s (Dec. 3) episode, Willow shared how the accelerated success affected the relationship between her parents Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith,
I definitely had to forgive you and daddy for that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing. It was mostly daddy because he was so harsh at certain times. It was a couple of years, honestly. Trying to regain trust for not feeling like I was being listened to or like no one cared how I felt.
Willow was also candid about how around the time, she became reflective of her own actions and emotional state,
And I had to forgive myself because I felt guilty because everyone is trying to make me better, trying to make my dream. But I didn’t really understand what my dream entailed. It was after that whole ‘Whip My Hair’ thing and I had just stopped doing singing lessons and I was kind of just in this gray area of, ‘Who am I? Do I have a purpose? Is there anything I can do besides this? And after all of that kinda settled down and it was like a kind of lull, I was just listening to a lot of dark music. It was just so crazy and I was plunged into this black hole, and I was cutting myself.
New episodes of “Red Table Talk” premieres on Facebook Watch every Monday.
