Lebron James Apologizes for “Jewish Money” Instagram Comment
Is this another form of “shut up and dribble?” NBA superstar Lebron James recently came under fire after an Instagram post that is pretty customary for him. He’s been known to affect the popularity of new hip hop releases, and this time was no different. LBJ posed in a purple Lakers hoodie, which included lyrics from “ASMR” by 21 Savage. Lebron typed:
“We been getting that Jewish money, Everything is Kosher”

Action Network producer Darren Rovell tweeted his piece on Lebron’s Instagram Story, disappointed. He insinuated that Lebron’s post was racially insensitive. He said:
“Surprised LeBron, who makes very few mistakes, put this out. Does quoting lyrics from a song absolve the person quoting from the responsibility behind the words? I’d argue no, especially with a following of 45 million.”

Lebron James apologized during his ESPN post-game interview after a recent loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. He said:
“Apologies, for sure, if I offended anyone. That’s not why I chose to share that lyric. I always [post lyrics]. That’s what I do. I ride in my car, I listen to great music, and that was the byproduct of it. So I actually thought it was a compliment, and obviously it wasn’t through the lens of a lot of people.”
He continued:
“My apologies. It definitely was not the intent, obviously, to hurt anybody.”
ESPN analyst Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted an update on the NBA’s course of action for the offensive post. He said:
“The league office has been in contact with LeBron James about his social media post referencing “Jewish money,” accepted his explanation that he made a mistake and the NBA will take no action, league source tells ESPN.”

Do you feel Lebron James’ 21 Savage post was offensive?
