R.Kelly Got An Underage Aaliyah Pregnant, According To “Surviving R.Kelly”

Shocking details about R.Kelly’s alleged relationship with the late singer Aaliyah are coming to light in Lifetime’s “Surviving R.Kelly”. The documentary details the 51-year-old artist’s alleged physical and sexual abuse against women, the sexual abuse he suffered as a child and him having sex with teenage girls.

One of the more interesting highlights are the singer’s alleged marriage to Aaliyah. Kelly’s former backup singer, Jovante Cunningham, talks about meeting Aaliyah when she was just 12-years-old. Cunningham also claims that one night, when they were on the road with, she witnessed Aaliyah and Kelly having sex. At the time, Aaliyah was 15. She says,

“the door flew open on the bus. Robert was having sex with Aaliyah”

She continued,

“I feel protective of Aaliyah right now, which is why I can’t get my mouth to say… he destroyed a lot of people.”

Kelly’s former tour manager and assistant, Demetrius Smith, claims that Kelly impregnated Aaliyah. Smith also says he was a witness at their secret marriage and forged the marriage certificate to say that she was 18, when in fact she was 15.

Smith insists that initially he didn’t know that Kelly and Aaliyah were in an intimate relationship. He says that at one point, he asked Kelly if there was anything romantic between them and Kelly denied it.

 I was so disappointed in him, ’cause I really believed him when he said that, you know, he wasn’t doing and messing with Aaliyah. 

He also says,

Aaliyah looked worried. Scared. Worried and scared. I wanted so much to grab Aaliyah and talk to her. I wanted so much to talk to her. ‘Cause she looked at me, she gave me a look like she wanted me to talk to her. That’s why I feel like I failed them. Both of them. I knew that it had changed the course of everything. 

To date, Kelly, now 51, has denied reports that he and Aaliyah married and were more than friends. In 2016, he stated,

“Out of respect for Aaliyah, and her mother and father who has asked me not to personally,” he continued. “But I can tell you I loved her, I can tell you she loved me, we was very close. We were, you know, best best best best friends.”

Aaliyah died in 2001 at the age of 22.
