Spike Lee Boycotts Gucci, Prada Over: They Have NO Clue When It Comes To Racist & Hateful Imagery!

In the wake of the recent blackface controversies, director Spike Lee says he will boycott fashion brands Gucci and Prada until both brands hire more black designers. Lee makes his stand on social media after the Gucci released a statement on their new black jumper complaints that it resembled blackface makeup. Lee says,

I, Spike Lee Of Sound Mind And Body Will No Longer Wear Prada Or Gucci Until They Hire Some Black Designers

After facing backlash over a controversial sweater, Gucci released a statement that the brand was committed to diversity and considered it a “fundamental value to be fully upheld, respected and at the forefront of every decision we make.”

They mention that the clothing has been removed from their online store to purchase. Gucci says,

“Gucci deeply apologizes for the offense caused by the wool balaclava jumper. We can confirm that the item has been immediately removed from our online store and all physical stores. We consider diversity to be a fundamental value to be fully upheld, respected, and at the forefront of every decision we make. We are fully committed to increasing diversity throughout our organization and turning this incident into a powerful learning moment for the Gucci team and beyond.”

Spike Lee continues in his statement that brands do not have any idea how to avoid being called out for their racial and hateful images. The Blackkklansman director demands more blacks designer to be hired after the Gucci controversy and Prada, who apologized for a monkey bag charm resembling blackface. Lee says,
