Gayle King’s New CBS Contract Reportedly More Than Double Her Current $5.5 Million Salary
Gayle King is reportedly returning to CBS News. The 64-year-old TV anchor is expected to return to “CBS This Morning.” Reportedly, she will be joined on the morning news show with Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil.
Over the past few months, it’s been rumored that Gayle was in deep negotiations concerning the renewal of her contract.
She made headlines in March after having a high profile interview with R.Kelly.
Gayle’s best friend, Oprah Winfrey, commented on the negotiating advice that she gave her stating:
“I said, ‘Get what you want. Get exactly what you want because now’s the time. And if you don’t get what you want, then make the next right move.’ Even without me, she was going to do that. But that was my advice, and I actually called up her lawyer, Allen Grubman, and I said, ‘Allen, she should get what she wants.’ And Allen goes, ‘What the F do you think I’m doing here? I said the same thing to her!’ The negotiation was already happening before her R. Kelly interview.”
Sources claim that her pay has allegedly been increased and her contract is more than double her current rumored $5.5 million salary. No official announcement has been released by CBS.
