A$AP Rocky Petition Started To Have Him Released From Swedish Jail [#JusticeForRocky]
Rapper A$AP Rocky is being met with an overwhelming amount of support from fans, followers, and fellow celebrities regarding his recent arrest. On June 30th, footage was captured of Pretty Flacko and company being allegedly followed and harassed by Swedish men. This incited a brawl in which the rapper, friends, and a bodyguard were arrested. However, A$AP Mob crew member A$AP Ferg announced that he was being unjustly held in the Swedish prison.
We later learned that Rocky was allegedly being held in what a source calls “inhumane living conditions” – including being forced to sleep on a yoga mat with no blanket, being fed only an apple a day, and barricaded in a room next to a “severely mentally ill” man who hurls his feces across the facility.
After T.I., Tyler the Creator, and Schoolboy Q vowed to boycott Sweden due to A$AP Rocky’s unjust arrest – a petition was started by the rapper’s camp. The petition details that an appeal was filed earlier in the week for his release, which was denied – keeping him detained for the next two weeks.
The petition statement reads:
“On Monday, July 8th, we filed an appeal with the Swedish Supreme Court to have Rocky released from the inhumane conditions and the clear violation of human rights. They rejected the filing, which means Rocky will remain in prison for two weeks. The conditions of the facility are horrific. Some of the inhumane conditions Rocky and his colleagues are facing at the Stockholm Detention Center include 24/7 solitary confinement, restriction of amenities for the most basic of human functions, access to palatable and life sustaining food as well as unsanitary conditions.
The prosecutor on the case has further communicated that he is working to receive an additional two-week extension for a trial to begin in mid – to end of August. To keep Rocky and his colleagues in jail pending the lengthy trial proceedings is a punishment before the fact, with no due process.
Join us in the #JusticeForRocky movement and demand that Rocky be released from Swedish officials immediately.”
Celebrities such as LaLa Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Miguel have joined in the fight to have him released, reposting the petition announcement.
