Cyntoia Brown Released From Prison, Inks Book Deal
Welcome home, Cyntoia Brown! According to reports, the 31-year-old former Tennessee inmate walked out of her prison facility in the wee hours of this morning (8/7/19) after being convicted of the murder of real estate agent, Johnny Allen, in 2004. She was sold into child sex trafficking by former boyfriend/pimp nicknamed Cut Throat, and purchased by Johnny at a fast food restaurant. A military vet, legend has it that he toted several war rifles and when Cyntoia thought he was reaching for a gun to kill her – she opened fire on him in self-defense. She was only 16-years-old when convicted of his murder.
After a social media uproar and mounds of outspoken celebrity support – Cyntoia was granted clemency by former Tennessee Governor Haslam, setting her free today. But, she didn’t leave prison empty-handed! Days before her release, Cyntoia reportedly secured a book deal with Atria Books for the memoir she’s been penning over the duration of her 15 years behind bars. She released this statement on the upcoming book:
“While first giving honor to God who made all of this possible, I would also like to thank my many supporters who have spoken on my behalf and prayed for me. I’m blessed to have a very supportive family and friends to support me in the days to come. I look forward to using my experiences to help other women and girls suffering abuse and exploitation.”
She continued:
“I thank Governor and First Lady Haslam for their vote of confidence in me and with the Lord’s help I will make them as well as the rest of my supporters proud.”
As we previously reported, Cyntoia Brown will remain on parole for the next ten years. Per her attorneys, she and her family have requested privacy during her transition back to society. However, public appearances are inevitable in promotion of her upcoming memoir.
“Free Cyntoia: My Search for Redemption in the American Prison System,” will be published October 15th.
