Larry King Files For Divorce From 7th Wife

TV personality Larry King, 85, has filed for divorce. He and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Shawn Southwick King, 59, were married for 22 years. She’s also his seventh wife. They have two sons together, 20-year-old Chance and Cannon, 19.

Larry filed  in the L.A. Superior Court on Tuesday, citing irreconcilable differences. He also noted the separation date as June 6, 2019.

One insider said Larry had been thinking about filing for quite some time, especially after he faced a health scare. Back in April, he had an angioplasty after suffering angina, which is similar to a heart attack.

“Larry was close to dying and it really shook him. He realized that he hadn’t been happy for a long time. They fought and argued all the time. But also it’s about protecting his kids. Shawn and Larry had essentially been separated for a decade. They sleep in separate bedrooms.”

“Larry is no saint, but he was tired of all the drama,” the source adds, confirming that previous reports of Shawn’s alleged affair were true. “This was a long time coming. The marriage has been over.”

The divorce comes years after Shawn reportedly had an affair in 2016. One insider confirmed the news back then and said,

“It’s true, and Larry is completely embarrassed and anguished by all of this. He doesn’t know what to do.”

But the couple denied the cheating rumors.

Larry said,

“You said an interesting word, ‘rumor.’ I’ve been in the business — next May, it’ll be 60 years — and I’ve dealt with rumors a long time. Interviewed people involved with rumors. Rumors are what they are — they’re rumors. And I tell you the truth, I don’t pay any attention to them.”

“Last week, there was a rumor going around about Larry and a speech he made in Kiev. This week, I’m the latest pinup girl. You just have to develop a shell around yourself and not get hard on the inside, and stick together.”

Interestingly enough, Larry also reportedly filed for divorce in 2010 amid speculation that Shawn was sleeping with one of their son’s baseball coaches. He later withdrew the papers.

While this marked Larry’s seventh marriage, it was Shawn’s second.
