Jeannie Mai Says Jeezy Is Her ‘Equal’, They Went Salsa Dancing On Their 1st Date & He Gave Her Homework

The Real is back for season six and of course co-host Jeannie Mai had to gush about her new man, rapper Jeezy. The two went social media official recently, and fans were waiting for the return of The Real so Mai could dish on her new love. And that she did.

She said Monday (Sept. 16),

“My man is fine fine! I have to tell you that getting to know J has been one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. For those of you who have been fans of him for a long time, I just got to know him in November. He’s introspective, he’s passionate, he’s incredibly deep, he’s a visionary, he’s a great leader, he’s an amazing servant to his community.”

She added,

“What’s crazy is that the things that I’ve been criticized for my whole life and my past relationships, ‘Jeannie you’re too deep. You think about things too much. Why does everything gotta have a purpose?’ I’m not one for small talk or small conversations. I wanna know why do you think the way you do, what brought you to look at things the way you do? Who are you? What’s important to you? And I found my equal.”

She dished on their first date and said that’s when they really got to know them. She added that they both came from 10-year relationships (she divorced her now ex-husband Frankie Harteis in 2017) and first took time to work on themselves to determine what healthy love is.

“I walk in on my date.. sushi right? I ask the hostess, ‘Is there a Jeezy here?’ And I’m like ‘Jeannie you gotta known his government name before you go on this date. What’s going on?’ So I walk in, I sit down and four hours later, we shut down the sushi restaurant. We had the most amazing talk about our greatest lessons in life, our greatest mistakes. It was super vulnerable. So then after that he looks at me and he’s like, ‘Yo… I don’t wanna go home. You wanna go salsa dancing with me?'”

Mai said she was all for it! They went dancing (which she said he was really good at by the way) and closed down the club. She said when they were leaving she hoped in her head that he wouldn’t kiss her because that would be “basic.” But instead, he gave her a “homework assignment” and told her to envision what they see them doing together in the future. He told her if her answer matched his, he would pursue her. It looks like they were a match in more ways than one.

Interestingly enough, she said they met on the set of The Real. He previously appeared on the show in 2016.
