R. Kelly – Judge Says Woman Who Posted $100K Bond For Singer Won’t Be Refunded
Judge Says Woman Who Posted $100K Bond For R. Kelly Won’t Be Refunded
An avid R. Kelly supporter will not be getting her $100,000 refund after posting bail for the singer earlier this year. Not right now anyway.
Valencia Love, the woman who paid a whopping $100,000 to get Kelly out of jail back in February filed a motion to get reimbursed.
Love helped Kelly get out of jail when he was being held in Cook County for 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four women, three of whom were minors at the time. The alleged incidents took place between 1998 and 2010. Kelly was also jailed around the same time for owing more than $160,000 in back child support for his ex-wife and mother of his children, Andrea Kelly.
Love’s lawyer said Tuesday (Sept. 17) that she didn’t know Kelly was under investigation in New York and Illinois when she paid the bond. They also pointed out that Kelly has
“vast resources.”
Still, Cook County’s Judge Lawrence Flood denied the request.
Kelly is being held in an Illinois jail after facing nine additional counts of enticing a minor and three counts of child pornography, along with one count of obstruction of justice. Those new charges were unsealed in July. He’s also facing similar criminal charges in New York.
The judge went on to deny a motion to increase the amount for bail, considering bail for the disgraced singer has been denied anyway.
