Tyler Perry Says He Had No Idea He Hired The Actress Who Put Up A Billboard To Get His Attention
Tyler Perry has hired Racquel Bailey, the actress who bought a billboard to get his attention, hoping to be a part of his new project. While Bailey landed a role in Perry’s new BET series “Sistas.” Interestingly enough, he said he had no idea she was the billboard actress until after she got the job.
He said of the billboard,
“No, that was scary as hell. I was really freaked out about it.”
He added,
“Listen, she auditioned, I didn’t even know it was her. I separated the two in my mind. She gets the job, then after she gets the job they tell me ‘Oh that’s the girl from the billboard.’ I go ‘What?! Why didn’t somebody tell me?’ But it’s great that she’s good because if you put up a billboard and you suck, it’s not gonna work anyway.”
He said he expects to see more billboards, especially since Bailey got the part. He even added that his character Madea is taking notes from Bailey.
“Actually Madea is putting [a billboard] up. She’s saying she wants to come back to work and she’s my next leading lady. So that’s that billboard.”
See it at the 8:38 mark.
Bailey has since responded.
“@TylerPerry on @JimmyKimmelLive and how my billboard scared him .lol… Im happy he was able to see my talent and it was a great joy working with him. I can’t wait to work with him again! Make sure you tune on on Oct 23rd to watch #SistasOnBET. #FaithJumper #LeapOfFaith #RacquelBailey“

Bailey made news when she posted a billboard in Atlanta in hopes of getting Perry’s attention.

But Perry didn’t have the most welcoming response.

Still, he hired her anyway! So it’s safe to say she’s pretty talented.
Fans will get a look at Bailey’s skills when she plays Officer Rayah in “Sistas.”
