T.I. Clarifies His Remarks About Iggy Azalea Tarnishing His Reputation, She Responds: “Stop Bringing Me Up For Relevance!”
Rapper T.I. is doubling down on his comments on signing Australian female rapper, Iggy Azalea. He recently told The Root that tapping her as the former first lady of Grand Hustle tarnished his legacy:
“I’m still actively looking for another female rapper who can undo the blunder of Iggy Azalea. That is the tarnish of my legacy as far as [being] a [music] executive is concerned. To me, this is like when Michael Jordan went to play baseball.”

T.I.
This week, he took to the “Breakfast Club” to further explain what he meant by his comments. In typical T.I. fashion, he didn’t bite his tongue:
“I didn’t say [signing Iggy Azalea] was my biggest mistake. The question was, ‘What in your career do you think you still have to accomplish?’ And I said, ‘Well, I gotta introduce another female to the game that can undo the blunder of Iggy Azalea. I really feel like she was meant to be great. This is just my opinion – and keep in mind, I didn’t say this to really speak down on shawty – this is just my truth…”
He continued:
“But as far as I’m concerned, I feel like when she found out white people liked her, and she didn’t really need Black people to like her anymore – she switched up. [She] started acting different; made moves that I wasn’t proud of, that kind of placed my reputation in the line of fire. And she was very arrogant about it…The raps were dope at first. Of course, she had help…and then she exposed herself so much. All of it! Everything! Twitter…and it undone all the good that was done…it had so much potential. It could’ve been bigger.”
Oop! Iggy, of course, didn’t appreciate those comments. As he predicted, she took to Twitter exposing that he wasn’t as involved in her career as he leads on:
“When will this guy shut up. The only song you were a part of making was “100” Thankyou for that, but you were NOT a part of the creative OR executive process on that album. Which is why i’ve always taken issue with you trying to approximate yourself with it’s success…stop trying to bring me up for relevance. I don’t bring your a** up, NO ONE is asking about you…Keep it pushing sweetie & worry about what your next story line is for family hustle”

Iggy Azalea

Iggy continued, adding that T.I. tried to make her something she isn’t.

Yikes! Who are you siding with – T.I. or Iggy Azalea? Let us know in the comments.
