Naomi Campbell Lashes Out At Mag For Identifying Incorrect Model In ‘Black Is Back’ Issue

Naomi Campbell has been a pioneer for women of color and women in general in the modeling industry and beyond.
So it’s no surprise she took the reigns in calling out Elle magazine in Germany for its issues with diversity.
She pointed out that in a feature page of a recent issue “Black is Back,” a model is incorrectly named Janaye Furman.
She also shared a side-by-side of the real Furman, and the model published in the magazine, Naomi Chinwing.

She added a cover of the controversial issue and a Google translation of a phrase from German to English that reads,
“Beautiful, successful, committed: MODELS OF COLOR were never in demand as they are now. But these great WOMEN also inspire us off the catwalks!”

She also gave the editor-in-chief Sabine Nedelchev, a lesson on diversity, stating in the caption that she and her fellow supermodel friend Bethann Hardison would be more than willing to step in and school her again.

Hardison commented and echoed similar sentiments.
