Rapper/reality TV star Ja Rule has been nothing short of a wordsmith within his two-decades long career. But his latest mission is to unlock the true meaning of the taboo N-word. He took to Twitter to discuss his findings:
“Wow I just learned something that blew my mind my whole life I was taught the word N*gger didn’t mean black it meant ignorance but I just looked it up and it’s always meant black smh tell the kids the truth…I’m so confused I need my history majors on this if the word n*gger just means black how did it become a derogatory term???”


Several fans and followers met his tweets with confusion of their own.



Ja Rule’s curiosity about the N-word seemed to spark from backlash about his tweet criticizing the massive success of the Popeye’s chicken sandwich. In that initial tweet, he used the N-word to describe the chicken sandwich fans’ unsavory behavior:
