Tory Lanez Pays Homage To T-Pain In “Jerry Sprunger” [New Music]

Tory Lanez Pays Homage To T-Pain For New Single “Jerry Sprunger”

Singer Tory Lanez released a fresh, new spin on a throwback track with a little help from a familiar sound. The Toronto native takes a walk down memory lane in his new video featuring T-Pain, called “Jerry Sprunger.” In the video, Tory Lanez rocks throwback looks from the early 2000’s including durags, bandanas, oversized tees, and jerseys while hosting a BBQ on the front lawn to a sample’s T-Pain’s 2005 smash single “I’m Sprung.”

The track, produced by Papí Yerr, will appear on the fifth installment of Lanez’s Chixtape series, set to drop Nov. 15. The 27-year-old first introduced the record in early December 2018, when he posted a video of T-Pain’s first reaction to the track. After hearing the for the first time in 2008, T-Pain was thoroughly impressed.

“Somebody get CSI Miami on the phone, there’s a body on a street.”

Lanez recently shared that he wanted to surprise listeners with fresh, updated songs from the early 2000s.

“I just tried to find my favorite songs and songs that people were gonna be like, ‘You’re not gonna get that cleared,’ or like, ‘That’s just too big,’ or ‘That’s just too much of a classic for you.’ That’s what I aimed for this time around.”

In addition to his upcoming music and video giving early 2000 vibes, the singer stayed consistent by adding singer, Ashanti to his cover art for his Chixtape 5 release. He says,

“Just the way it looks, the aesthetic of it, she hasn’t aged at all, she looks the same. You even see with the cover, it’s like she ain’t missed a second. It’s just incredible to have captured that same exact feel.”
