Jay-Z Reportedly Involved In Colin Kaepernick’s NFL Workout: He Pushed The Idea

Hip-Hop billionaire Jay-Z reportedly has played a part in gathering teams together for a private workout which includes, former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. After an alleged three year hold out, Kapernick now has his rightful opportunity to prove he belongs in the NFL. According to NFL Insiders, the Roc Nation founder lead the charge,

“I am also told that JAY-Z—who has been working with the NFL on some social justice initiatives—was involved in this and pushed this idea to some extent.”

To add, Kaepernick was not expecting the workout opportunity after recently coming to an agreement on his settlement with the NFL in February.

Kaepernick recently took to Twitter to reveal his excitement after his three-year long wait to be given another opportunity. He writes,

“I’m just getting word from my representatives that the NFL league office reached out to them about a workout in Atlanta on Saturday. I’ve been in shape and ready for this for 3 years, can’t wait to see the head coaches and GMs on Saturday.”

Jay’s partnership with the NFL supports the “Inspire Change, initiative which focuses on education and economic advancement, police and community relations, and criminal justice reform.

Back in September, he reportedly helped Jennifer Lopez and Shakira close a deal to perform for the NFL Super Bowl Halftime show. Roc Nation spoke on working with the NFL,

“The NFL has a great big platform, and it has to be all-inclusive. They were willing to do some things, to make some changes, that we can do some good.”

As previously reported, Jay-Z faced backlash for crossing lines and uniting with the NFL after allegedly blackballing Kaepernick for the last three-year for his peaceful protest. The backlash came after a video of Jay explaining his decision adding that he is “passed kneeling.”

“I think we’ve passed kneeling. I think it’s time to go into actionable items. I think everyone knows what the issue is, and we’re done with that.”

He then went around the room and asked people if they knew why the protests began, and they said yes.

“We all know the issue now. Okay, next. Where are we moving on next? And I’m not… again, to be clear, for the room, I’m not minimizing that part of it. That has to happen. That’s a necessary part of the process. Now we all know what’s going on. What are we going to do? How are we going to stop? How are gonna stop? The kneeling wasn’t about a job, it was about injustice. Let me bring attention to injustice. Everyone’s saying, ‘How are you going forward and Kaep doesn’t have a job?’ This wasn’t about him having a job.”
