Jay-Z Pressured NFL To Have Colin Kaepernick Workout After Taking ‘Reputational Bullet’
This week, the NFL announcement an unexpected private workout opportunity in front of several NFL teams for alleged blackballed quarterback, Colin Kaepernick. The 32-year-old former San Francisco 49ers player missed the last three seasons due to league front offices’ and owners’ who some think fear the public backlash for allowing him a second chance following his viral social justice movement.
On Friday (Nov. 15th), The Dan Patrick Show, claimed that music mogul, Jay-z had more than “some influence ,” in creating an opportunity for Colin Kaepernick. According to sources, Jay allegedly forced the hand of the commissioner in response to his public backlash after involving his likeness and business with the NFL. Patrick says,
“According to my source, JAY-Z said that he took a reputational bullet for the commissioner when they had that press conference [with] his new role in the NFL. Social agenda. Social injustice. He was gonna help with the entertainment for halftime. All of this. My source said that JAY-Z was pressuring the commissioner to do the right thing and have this workout for Colin Kaepernick.”
He continued,
“JAY-Z said, ‘Hey, look, I don’t want to be viewed as a sellout here. Now those are my words, not his, but he was saying ‘reputational bullet.”

Jay was criticized by Kaepernick’s former teammate Eric Reid, as well as by his girlfriend Nessa Diab. Soon after the Roc Nation founder and league announced their partnership, Nessa subliminally blasted the music mogul in August. She wrote,
“I don’t care if it’s your favorite idol. No PR look will ever cover up the truth that @kaepernick7 is wrongfully unemployed because he protested against injustices happening to black and brown communities. PERIOD.”

In addition, former teammate and best friend to the quarterback, Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid stated on Wednesday (Nov. 13th), that he feels the workout “feels like a PR stunt” by the NFL to save face.
“I’ll believe it when I see it. At this point, it feels like a PR stunt.”

As previously reported, the workout will include an on-field workout and an interview. According to reports, teams are seeking a player who is game-day ready.
“Several clubs have inquired about Kaepernick’s current football readiness.”

Kaepernick recently took to Twitter to reveal his excitement after his three-year long wait to be given another opportunity. He writes,
“I’m just getting word from my representatives that the NFL league office reached out to them about a workout in Atlanta on Saturday. I’ve been in shape and ready for this for 3 years, can’t wait to see the head coaches and GMs on Saturday.”
