Blue Ivy Carter – Journalists Apologize After Making Fun Of Beyonce & Jay-Z’s Seven-Year-Old Daughter
Two writers have now apologized after mocking seven-year-old Blue Ivy Carter. The oldest daughter of superstars Jay-Z and Beyonce was the topic of insulting tweets from Violet Lucca, the web editor for Harper’s, and K. Austin Collins, a film critic for Vanity Fair.
The ordeal started after Beyonce shared family photos to wrap 2019. The mother and daughter duo also posed with rapper Megan Thee Stallion.
K. Austin Collins tweeted shortly after, on Wednesday (Jan. 1),
“I have a feeling the jay z face genes are about to really hit Blue Ivy and I feel so sorry for her”
Violet Lucca then chimed in.
“Or she’ll just get plastic surgery at 16 a la Kylie Jenner and we’ll all have to pretend that he always looked that way… I can’t allow myself to feel too sorry for the incredibly rich!”
While she might not feel sorry for Blue Ivy, who’s turning eight later this month, she did apologize after she and K. Austin Collins received lots of backlash for their tweets.
Collins wrote,
“I’m sorry about the Blue Ivy tweet — bad joke, and black girls in particular deserve better.”
“Sorry I was cleaning my apartment while this blew up…children of famous ought to be off limits, but time and again they haven’t been. So I said something petty and have been called ugly, old, and a racist.”
“I’m not playing the victim…sorry that I insulted Beyoncé’s daughter by suggesting that she might get plastic surgery some day, like many children of famous people do.”
