Matt Barnes Releases Statement About Split From Youngest Son’s Mother Anansa Sims, Addresses Restraining Order

Former NBA star, Matt Barnes opens up on his recent split with his youngest child’s mother, Anansa Sims over the weekend (Feb. 22nd). In the former Los Angeles Lakers star’s lengthy message, Matt Barnes says he attempted to to make their relationship work, in order to give their one-year-old son Ashton a family but after more than a year, the couple have now called it quits. Matt Barnes begins,

“I knew the pain of being apart from a child and wanted Aston close to me as much as possible. In an attempt to do the right thing. I tried to “play house.”

He adds,

“For more than a year, I tired to make the arrangements work. Unfortunately, it did not work.”

Matt Barnes goes on to write his plans of taking legal action to maintain a relationship with their son.

“Although, I tired to handle this privately as adults without outside input, I have no choice but to allow the four to intervene.”

He also addresses an alleged restraining order Sims was given in order to keep peace between the former couple. Barnes says,

“As it relates to the restraining order, this comes out of the blue after I had been out of town working to provide for my boys. It is perfectly timed to aligned with our upcoming court date. In the end, I wish Anansa luck.”

He ends his post with a positive message,

 “This post is not meant to be petty or vindictive. It’s not fun fighting for your kids, especially under the public eye.”

As previously reported on Saturday (Feb. 22nd), the former NBA player shared a photo of him and their adorable child Ashton. Barnes writes,

“Missing my Lil man.. Hopefully I’ll be allowed to see you soon”

Sims seemed to respond with a post of her own post were she alludes to her child’s father as “toxic.”

Matt Barnes also has two sons, twin boys Carter and Isaiah with his ex-fiancée Gloria Govan. According to reports, Barnes and Sims have called it quits just weeks ago.

The former couple went public with their relationship in the summer of 2018 and welcomed Ashton the following December.
