Tyra Banks Gears Up For Opening Of ModelLand Theme Park

Veteran model Tyra Banks isn’t a businessman. She’s a business, man! After making her mark in the fashion world as a teenaged model, she went on to produce and star in several television shows such as “America’s Next Top Model;” act in “The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” and Life Size, and even write books. But Tyra Banks’s grind doesn’t stop there! She’s now created her own theme park!

ModelLand is a 21,000-square-foot, multi-level theme park in the heart of Santa Monica, California, with its name based on her 2011 novel. According to the LA Times, Tyra Banks has been working on this venture for the past 10 years, and it’s finally opening on May 1st. Tyra commented:

“I am excited to bring ModelLand to my hometown in L.A. after dreaming about it for so many years. I always loved discovering unique and barrier breaking talent on ‘America’s Next Top Model’ and I wanted to give that same love to everyone, so I created a physical space to do that.”

The theme park will allow visitors the opportunity to interact with and be consulted by beauty and fashion industry professionals, shop, and even do photoshoots! This is how ModelLand’s official website describes the park:

“…the first of its kind experiential attraction that will emulate a fantasy version of the modeling world with state-of-the-art interactive entertainment where beauty, fantasy, tech, theater, retail and an eating extravaganza collide.”

The mission of this massive venture is to “bring modeling to the masses,” according to the Victoria’s Secret angel. Some may ask, “Why a theme park?” Tyra says the happiest place on earth:

“I’m inspired by Walt Disney. He created a legacy brand and destination that exists beyond his time on earth and continues to delight people of all ages through fantasy and story…I want to redefine what a model and modeling means. It ain’t just about having a contract with a top modeling agency. And it’s not just being an Instamodel with tons of followers. I want to make people everywhere feel more beautiful and powerful than they ever believed possible.”

Visitors can purchase different experience-levels within ModelLand, including a $549 “Fantascene Photoshoot” where they’ll be styled for a photoshoot. General access tickets start at $39 for children and $59 for adults.
