Harvey Weinstein — Oprah Winfrey & Gayle King Trending On Social Media, Urged To Break Their Silence On His Sentencing
Harvey Weinstein might be the one who was sentenced to 23 years, but media personalities Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King are the ones trending on Twitter just hours after.
Many fans are calling out the duo amid the narrative that they only cover sexual assault accusations against men of color. In the past, Oprah Winfrey has taken part in projects that feature women who accused Russell Simmons of sexual assault, and men who accuse Michael Jackson of the crime.
At the same time, Gayle King received overwhelming backlash after she questioned Lisa Leslie on her stance concerning 2003 sexual assault claims against 2003.
Fans have suggested that Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King have stayed quiet about Harvey Weinstein while having no issue coming after black men. And Harvey Weinstein’s sentencing has brought that to light once again as many on Twitter urge the women to speak out.

Oprah Winfrey previously spoke on Harvey Weinstein in the heat of the allegations in 2017.
“When something this major happens, when you have the fallout, 50 women coming forward, it’s a watershed moment. What I do believe is actually happening, it’s triggering a lot of unreleased pain, guilt, and suffering that a lot women have had… If we make this just about Harvey Weinstein, then we will have lost this moment.”
She added that the days of women undergoing sexual assault in attempt to secure a job are “over.”
Interestingly enough, Gayle King sat down with Harvey Weinstein’s lawyer last year.
