Marlon Wayans Sends ‘Black People’ A Message Amid COVID-19: Don’t Be Hard-Headed, Don’t Be Dapping People, Stay Inside!
Comedian Marlon Wayans delivered a heartfelt message on Instagram Wednesday (April 8), urging people to stay at home during what is considered to be the most crucial period of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Aye wassup, I hope everybody out there is being safe. I hope you’re staying your a** in the house, dodging this coronavirus. I wanna say to all my people, especially in New York and all the big cities, where it’s running wild right now. Chicago, Mississippi, Louisiana- ya’ll about to get hit hard too and I just wanna say, ya’ll stay inside and respect social distancing. Wash your hands.”
Marlon made a separate and equally fervent appeal to black people in the Instagram video.
“And I’m saying this to my people; Black people – ya’ll, don’t be hardheaded. Stay inside. Don’t hang out with nobody.”
He wrote the caption,
“To all my people. Please BE SAFE!!! This virus is REAL. This message is for everyone but especially black folks. Covid is hitting our community at a 7 to 1 ratio. Please stay home and wash your hands often. LOVE…”
Marlon encouraged black people to replace a handshake with a head nod.
“And don’t be dapping people. F**K dap. Social distancing; from 6 feet. And wash your hands.”
Marlon ended the straight forward message laced with tough love, saying,
“Ya’ll be safe. I love yall.”
