Big Sean Talks Going Through ‘Distress’ As He Opens Up About Mental Health Journey
Rapper Sean Michael Leonard Anderson better known as Big Sean is no stranger to being open about his spiritual journey and mental health. Over the past couple of years, the rapper has opened up and been more candid with fans when it comes to his inner thoughts and life experiences. On Thursday, (April 16th) Big Sean took to Instagram to discuss a conversation that he had with a friend of his who was recently in a funk and feeling like life wasn’t going his way. In the video, the 32- year- old rapper shared a concept that has helped him get through some tough times.
” Life can stress us out in so many different directions we ain’t trying to be, but there are two different type of stress , there’s distress and eustress. Eustress is the stress that can motivate us to be our greater selves, it could be that extra push that we need to go to the next level to achieve something that we may or may not be able to do if we were just comfortable and its a real positive thing; and obviously distress is the opposite of that and that’s the more popular one.”
He continues and opens up even more,
“Their have been times in my life where I felt certain ways, but just remember that your emotions are indicators, ya feel me? they are human indicators that something may be going right or something may be going wrong and you gotta pay attention to them, you cant ignore them. Just knowing and having that information, there have been times where I’ve been able to turn my distress into eustress.”
Big Sean received a lot of appreciation from fans for opening up and dropping this jewel of knowledge. Just last month, he shared a list of books that has helped him during his spiritual journey and personal growth. Some of the books listed were: “Becoming Supernatural”, “The Energy Codes”, “The Seven Spiritual Laws Of Success”, “The Alchemist, and “The Four Agreements”
