Kandi Burruss’ Husband Todd Tucker Talks To Their 4-Year-Old Son About Police: I’m Still Explaining To Him The Horrific Acts
During these revolutionary times, where people are out protesting, marching, coming together against police brutality and in the pursuit of justice and equality, parents of black children are having some of the most difficult conversations they’ve ever had to have with their kids about race, and how to react if they ever come in contact with police.
Todd Tucker, TV producer, and husband to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star and singer Kandi Burruss shared his own experience talking to their 4-year-old son, Ace Wells Tucker about police.
In his post, he shares a photo of Ace, who Todd Tucker said dressed as a police officer for career day last year.
He added a caption that recounted a moment where his son asked if cops are bad people.
I haven’t been very vocal lately as my heart has been hurting. My son was a police officer for his career day last year. We were watching the news and he asked me “the police are bad guys?” With a puzzled look. It was so hard explaining to him that the police can also be the bad guys. He was so confused.
He added that he still hasn’t found the words to explain the reality of police brutality to their tot.
And I’m still working on explaining to him the horrific acts of the police. We must have honest conversations with our children and prepare them.
Wife Kandi Burruss has also been very vocal during these times on her Instagram. Just hours after Todd Tucker’s post, the Xscape veteran uploaded videos of her having a dialogue about voting, defunding the police, and getting the justice that is rightfully deserved for the many families affected by police brutality.
What are your thoughts on Todd’s conversation with his and Kandi’s son? Let us know in the comments.
