Lizzo Poses Nude While Announcing Silent Auction For Juneteenth
Rapper, flutist, singer, and songwriter Lizzo took to Instagram today (June 19th) to announce a raffle and silent auction she is having in celebration of Juneteenth and black businesses. In the 41-second video, Lizzo is seen sitting on stairs and wearing nothing but what appears to be a floor-length long, jet black wig. In the second portion of the video, Lizzo can be seen lightly flipping her hair and standing in front of a wall where she further encourages her viewers to participate in her upcoming ventures.
Happy Juneteenth, y’all! This year, we’re doing Juneteenth in a major way. Not only are we celebrating a Black American holiday, but I’m holding a silent auction and a raffle so we can give back to Black organizations and businesses, specifically in the Twin Cities so go to LizzoLovesYou.com to sign up to have an interactive experience with me, whether virtual or on the road, depending on the future of COVID and also, participate in a silent auction with some of my favorite people and artists. So go to LizzoLovesYou.com and celebrate Juneteenth by giving back to black.
Juneteenth, also referred to as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the final reading of the Emancipation Proclamation declaring that all enslaved African-Americans were free. This year marks the 155th anniversary of this event. According to the LizzoLovesYou.com website, Lizzo’s commemoration of Juneteenth through her raffle and silent auction proceeds will help organizations such as the Minneapolis Sanctuary Movement and the Black Church Food Security Network.
Her site also has the following information about her efforts and a message from Lizzo herself:
Calling on a few of my favorite artists Missy Elliott, Janelle Monae and Tracee Ellis Ross, these extraordinary women were able to donate priceless costumes and incredible products. The black fine artists featured, Jan Gatewood and Kezia Harrell, are making bold moves in the art world and deserve to be valued. I’ve also included some of my own personal favorite items as well.
We have experienced a long history of being devalued and having our businesses destroyed and deprived of true economic support. Let’s give back by supporting black art and putting value into black creators and workers!
For only a $10 minimum donation, you’ll also be entered to win a trip to hang out with me backstage at an upcoming concert!
You and a guest will get the full Lizzo Big Grrrl treatment! I’ll fly you to one of my concerts (dates and locations TBD) and put you up in a sexy hotel. You can even learn some of the Big Grrrl moves and dance with us at soundcheck. You’ll get VIP seats OR watch from backstage with your BIG GRRRL All Access Tour Pass. And since I don’t know when these concerts will be scheduled just yet, I’ll video call you and some of your friends so we can kick it virtually in the meantime.
How do you feel about Lizzo’s video and efforts to support Black businesses? Sound off in the comments!
