Donald Trump Threatens To Arrest People Who Destroy Memorial Monuments
Donald Trump is seemingly putting his foot down against protesters. Celebrities like singer Taylor Swift and activist Shaun King have stamped their stances in favor of historical monuments of alleged racist figures being removed. Taylor Swift issued this statement on Twitter:
“Taking down statues isn’t going to fix centuries of systemic oppression, violence and hatred that black people have had to endure but it might bring us one small step closer to making ALL Tennesseans and visitors to our state feel safe – not just the white ones…villains don’t deserve statues.”

Well, Donald Trump wants people who destroy federal monuments to be arrested and prosecuted. He tweeted:
“I have authorized the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalizes or destroys any monument, statue or other such Federal property in the U.S. with up to 10 years in prison, per the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, or such other laws that may be pertinent…..”
He continued,
“….This is action is taken effective immediately, but may also be used retroactively for destruction or vandalism already caused. There will be no exceptions!”

His tweet also comes as activist Shaun King calls for the removal of white Jesus statues and paintings.

This isn’t the first time Donald Trump has called out protesters. He controversially tweeted that “looting” would lead to “shooting” at the beginning of the nationwide outcry after the death of George Floyd.
