Nipsey Hussle’s Alleged Shooter Eric Holder Wants Trial Transcripts To Remain Sealed

The marathon for justice for murdered rapper/entrepreneur Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom continues amid the court trial. Unless valid evidence is presented in objection, transcripts from the trial will be made public ten days after the proceedings – as the indictment was unsealed on May 21st. The 29-year-old man on trial for Nipsey Hussle’s death – Eric Holder – is fighting to have those transcripts sealed in fear of public opinion damaging his case. His public defender, Lowynn Young, feels his right to a fair trial is being compromised. The attorney weighed in:

“Here, the modest pretrial publicity in this case does not even remotely compare with the publicity in the Martha Stewart trial, the Manson Family trial, the John DeLorean trial, the Watergate trials, or the Abscam trials. Yet, in all of those cases, courts rejected the defendants’ arguments that pretrial publicity had interfered with their right to a fair trial. This Court should do the same.”

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Robert J. Perry doubts that the 23 potential jurors will be skewed by the availability of the transcripts. Judge Perry said:

“We live in a society that is moving away from the printed page.”

However, LAPD has been hush-hush about the investigation. On the shooting itself, LA Police Chief Michael Moore has only offered this blurb on what he believes led to Eric Holder opening fire on Nipsey Hussle:

“…a personal matter between the two of them.”

However, as previously reported, Deputy District attorney John McKinney told the grand jury that Eric may have been offended by the “Hustle & Motivate” rapper mentioning snitching:

“Apparently, the conversation had something to do with [Hussle] telling Mr. Holder that word on the street was that Mr. Holder was snitching. The conversation wasn’t particularly intense. It wasn’t particularly belligerent.”

Eric Holder is being on $6.5 million bail for charges of one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and assault with a firearm. He has pleaded not guilty.

Do you think the court transcripts should be sealed? Let us know in the comments.
