Juelz Santana Reunites With His Wife And Kids After Being Released From Prison

Rapper Juelz Santana (real name LaRon James) was released from prison this week (August 5) after serving over a year on two counts of federal gun charges. Back in December 2018, the 38-year-old rapper was sentenced to 27 months in prison for carrying a loaded gun in his carry-on bag at Newark Liberty International Airport.

Juelz Santana was initially charged with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and two counts of carrying a weapon on an aircraft. At the time, he faced up to 20 years in prison. However, he accepted a plea deal for one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of carrying a weapon on an aircraft, which shortened his time.

The Harlem native remained on house arrest until he began serving his sentence in March of last year, and he was allowed to film Love & Hip-Hop New York.

In April, we reported that his wife and fellow Love & Hip Hop New York veteran Kimbella James, started a petition for the rapper’s early release from prison amid the current coronavirus pandemic.

Kimbella created the petition on Saturday, April 4th with the title #FreeJuelzSantana. She wrote,

“#FreeJuelzSantana AKA Laron James needs to be freed during this pandemic to be with his family. He is currently on lockdown for 2 weeks because of the Covid 19 virus outbreak. He has served 13 months at FCI Petersburg and should be allowed to serve the rest of his sentence on home confinement. BOP & Honorable Judge Chesler can make this happen for Laron. He is a good husband, father, son, brother, friend and has a positive media influence as a legendary rap artist. We need you to sign this petition to get Laron James aka Juelz Santana home.”

Since being released, Juelz Santana has reunited with his wife and children, showing pictures of their first meeting and writing in the caption,

“I missed my family.. GOD is good!!! #FreeAtLast#ImBack”

Kimbella also posted her own video prior to the rapper being released, stating,

“Juelz was supposed to get released last Tuesday but some s**t happened. But we’re outside of the prison now and he’s gonna be released any minute. And I’ll leave it all up to him when he gets out. Stay tuned!”

Welcome Back Juelz Santana!
