Larry King Breaks Silence After Son & Daughter Pass Away: No Parent Should Have To Bury A Child

Update #2 (Aug. 24th): Larry King has spoken out after tragically losing his son and daughter within just weeks of one another.

He took to Facebook to release a statement.

“It is with sadness and a father’s broken heart that I confirm the recent loss of two of my children, Andy King, and Chaia King. Both of them were good and kind souls and they will be greatly missed. Andy passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on July 28th, and Chaia passed on August 20th, only a short time after having been diagnosed with lung cancer.”

He continued,

“Losing them feels so out of order. No parent should have to bury a child.”

He ended by thanking the public for their support.

Original Story (Aug. 22nd): Prayers are going out for TV legend Larry King after he lost two of his children within just weeks of one another.

His son, Andy King, 65, passed away last month and his only daughter, Chaia, died Aug. 19 after her battle with lung cancer, according to reports.

Larry King was unable to attend the funeral services because of COVID-19 and watched from his L.A. home. His granddaughter and Andy King’s daughter Jillian told The Daily Mail: 

“Everyone’s feeling pretty bad and broken. Larry is really hurt and upset. He was very sick last year. His kids were all taking very close care of him. He’s upset that he’s lost them now.”

She added that Andy King’s cause of death is still a mystery.

 “My dad (Andy King) passed away July 28. We’re assuming it was a heart attack but there wasn’t ever an autopsy. I was in disbelief when I heard. Chaia, with everything she was going through, was more expected. At least we had time to prepare. But there was no warning with him. It was a shock. They were both such wonderful people.”

One insider also said:

“Larry and his three remaining children are distraught, and Larry’s still recovering from his own health issues from last year.”

Larry King spent this past Father’s Day with all five of his children.

Larry King himself suffered a stroke last year. He reportedly had a heart attack in April, but his reps released a statement and denied that he went into cardiac arrest. He was also diagnosed with lung cancer in September 2017.

Chaia’s mother is Larry King’s ex-wife, Alene Akins. He also legally adopted Andy King, who is Alene Akins’ son from a previous relationship. He has son Larry King Jr., whose mother is his ex-wife Annette Kaye, and sons Cannon King and Chance King, whose mother is his most recent and 7th wife, Shawn King. He filed for divorce from Shawn King last August.

Cannon King grieved the losses on social media.
