Steve Harvey Defends Ellen DeGeneres Amid Investigation: She Has No Control Over What Every Staff Member Does
Steve Harvey is the latest celebrity to come to the defense of Ellen DeGeneres. During a recent interview, the “Family Feud” host spoke on his friend and stood by her amid the toxic workplace allegations that have come from a number of her former employees. When speaking on Ellen DeGeneres and her current situation he said,
“I’m going to say this about it: Ellen DeGeneres, the person that I know, that I’ve known for a number of years, that I saw back in the comedy club days, when we used to split time with the same management, all of this and what’s happening now, Ellen, the person, is probably one of the coolest and kindest people I’ve met in this business.”
He continued and said that even though it’s Ellen DeGeneres’s talk show, she doesn’t have control over what every person on her team does.
“[Ellen] has no control over what every staff member does, what every producer does, you can’t control that. You don’t even know some of the stuff that’s happening.”
He added,
“It’s her name that’s on the show. she got to take the hit. Something happens over here, I got to take the hit.”
Steve Harvey also said that he doesn’t believe Ellen DeGeneres is a racist.
“If I have a conversation with you, I know if you got racist tendency somewhere in you, because it radiates. I can feel it. I’ve been around a long time, man. That’s not Ellen DeGeneres. That’s just not her, period.”
He added that he’s checked in on Ellen a few times since the allegations against her have surfaced.
“I’ve told her, keep your head up. We’ve texted each other. But my first advice was Ellen got enough money to walk away. But, we’re in the cancel culture right now, man, everybody want to see everybody fall down, man. What happened, man?”
As we previously reported, Ellen DeGeneres has been in the hot seat after allegations of The Ellen DeGeneres Show being a toxic and problematic workplace surfaced earlier this summer. According to reports, former employees of The Ellen Show were subjected to racist comments from executive producers and sexual harassment. Some employees also claim that Ellen’s ‘happy personality’ is just an act for the show. Reportedly, following an internal investigation by WarnerMedia, executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman, and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman were fired.
