Real Housewives Of Potomac’s Candiace Dillard On Whether She Provoked Monique Samuels: She Was Waiting For An Opportunity To Have Her Moment
This season of Real Housewives of Potomac has brought a whirlwind of emotions from all of the cast, but the drama between Candiace Dillard Bassett and Monique Samuels, has gone unresolved.
At the end of Sunday night’s episode (Sept. 20th), the first part of the epic fight between Candiace Dillard Bassett and Monique Samuels was shown as the ladies argued and Monique Samuels flipped Candiace Dillard Bassett’s hair before grabbing it.

After the episode aired, Candiace appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” and spoke on the scene.
“It was interesting watching that part because I don’t remember feeling like the knife was going to become an issue. I was obviously a little tipsy. We had all been drinking, we’d all been sipping wine, we were all a little tipsy and you know I’m notorious for tapping on glasses. I’ve done it in other scenes, and that was my failed attempt to just sort of be comedic about it and be sort of whatever about the situation and make it funny – so it’s not to make it become what she wanted…”
As for whether she’d do anything differently she said:
“I could say that I could have done what I did in the previous week’s episode which is walk away, but Monique as you all have seen in the compounding episodes she tried at every turn to start a fight, an argument, to start drama, she was waiting for an opportunity if you ask me to have her day, and have her moment…”
“Well yes people have said to me that well you asked to be dragged so you got dragged. So let’s go back to the moment when she threatened to drag me eight months pregnant when I was having a conversation with someone that was not her – that she walked into and escalated that conversation in that situation and then threatened to hit me in the face with a glass bottle. So the short answer is no, I don’t believe that me quoting a violent pregnant person deserves or warrants me being violently attacked.”
“The season was…was this a fun season? Did we have fun? I feel like we had a lot of fun- I think. It was a doozy! It was just a lot going on, y’all!”

Robyn Dixon added that she wouldn’t consider the moment between Monique and Candiace a fight.
“It was a lot going. Like, a lot more than what was in the trailer. That’s the crazy part!…I think the attack – I’m not even gonna call it a fight, ’cause it was one-sided. I think the attack took over. Like, that was what everyone focused on in the trailer. But a lot happened before, after- I think the whole season is gonna be entertaining…”
