Roy Jones On Upcoming Fight W/ Mike Tyson: I Made A Mistake Going In W/ Him
It looks like Roy Jones has a few concerns about his upcoming battle with Mike Tyson.
The two are slated to step into the ring on Nov. 28, and Roy Jones spoke on their highly anticipated return to the sport.
He confessed to Sky Sports:
“When it comes time to fight, we’re going to fight. If it comes down to bite, we’re going to bite. Whatever has to happen is going to happen. That’s just what it is. He’s still Mike Tyson. He’s still one of the strongest, most explosive people who ever touched a boxing ring. If anything, I made a mistake going in with him. He’s the bigger guy. He’s the explosive guy.”
He added:
“Mike is powerful. He don’t lose his power. His power is the last thing to go. So he’s not going to lose his power or his explosiveness. If you seen the videos he’s been putting out, he’s been very explosive and very powerful. … Now, it may not last more than five rounds. … So you probably got to dance around him for four or five rounds or try to survive four or five rounds. … Then you can fight him.”
It’s safe to say Roy Jones is correct with his assessment about going all the way with Mike Tyson as both men come out of retirement for their bout.
Mike Tyson said in an interview last month:
“We’re throwing punches at each other. This is going to be my definition of fun … broken eye sockets, broken jaw, broken rib. That’s fun to me.”
Roy Jones’ comments come after a video of Mike Tyson nearly knocking out his trainer during a session surfaced and went viral.
The two were supposed to fight on Sept. 12, but it was postponed so promoters could bring in more fans.
