Mike Tyson Is Voting For The 1st Time This Year: I Never Thought I Could Because Of My Felony Record
Mike Tyson is ready to cast his vote.
The all-star boxer explained on Twitter that he’s never voted before, but plans to this year. He tweeted Tuesday (Sept. 22nd):
“This election will be my 1st time voting. I never thought I could because of my felony record. I’m proud to finally vote.”
He also urged his followers and fans to register to vote as well.

Mike Tyson was convicted and sentenced to six years in prison back in 1992. He served three years. The conviction came after he was charged with one count of rape and two counts of deviant sexual conduct.
He wasn’t allowed to vote in elections before, but thanks to a new law in Nevada, which is where Mike Tyson resides, he can vote this time around.
Mike Tyson isn’t the only celebrity who will be voting for the first time this November.
Snoop Dogg said back in June that he also believed he wasn’t allowed to vote because of his past. He said while talking to Big Boy on Real 92.3 in Los Angeles:
“I never voted a day in my life but this year I think I’m gonna get out and vote because I can’t stand to see this punk in office one more year. For many years they had me brainwashed thinking that you couldn’t vote ‘cause you had a criminal record. I didn’t know that. Yeah, my record’s been expunged.”
He continued and said he’d “definitely” vote because:
“We got to make a difference I can’t talk about it and not be about it. I can’t tell you to do it and then don’t go do it. Everybody know I’m a front liner. I ain’t gonna tell you to do something I didn’t do. If I tell you to do something I done it already.”
