Naya Rivera’s Sister Addresses Reports She’s Living W/ Late Star’s Ex-Husband: I’m Showing Up For My Nephew
Update #2 (Sept. 29th): The sister of late actress Naya Rivera has spoken out after reports swirled that Naya Rivera’s ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, moved in with her earlier this month.
She addressed the news on her Instagram stories and wrote:
“In the darkest time of my life, the only thing that is important is my friends & family. Showing up for my nephew even though I can’t show up for myself.”

She continued:
“I’m not concerned with the way things look because no one can see each agonizing moment we all endure. What matters most I’ve learned, is to show compassion, not to judge others and never take a moment of life for granted. I hope you all can do the same.”
Ryan Dorsey hasn’t publicly spoken on reports yet.
Original Story (Sept. 28th): Naya Rivera’s sister and ex-husband have moved in together to raise five-year-old Josey after the “Glee” actress tragically passed away after an accidental drowning, according to reports.
Ryan Dorsey, 37, and Nickayla Rivera, 25, are said to be living in a three-bedroom rental. Ryan Dorsey reportedly moved in with Nickayla Rivera earlier this month. He previously lived in North Hills, in the San Fernando Valley.
They’re reportedly sharing the responsibility of helping raise Josey, who Naya Rivera shared with Ryan Dorsey.
The two married in July 2014 before welcoming Josey in September 2015. They separated in 2018.
Ryan Dorsey broke his silence on Naya Rivera’s passing shortly after it was confirmed. He wrote in part:
“There’s not enough words to express the hole left in everyone’s heart. Life is all about good times and bad times but with Josey it makes the bad a little less so because a part of you will always be with us. He’ll never forget where he came from. We miss you. We will always love you.”

Naya Rivera’s body was discovered five days after she went missing during a boat trip with Josey in California’s Lake Piru. The autopsy report, released by the Ventura County Medical Examiner, included an account from Josey, who was later found sleeping alone in the boat. He said that he and the actress
“counted ‘1,2,3’ and then jumped off the boat together.”
Shortly after, she told him
“to get back on to the boat.”
The report continues:
“She helped him onto the boat and he then heard [Rivera] yell ‘help’ and she put her arm in the air. She then disappeared into the water.”
The autopsy report also notes that there was
“no known history of suicidal ideation or attempt.”
Continued prayers for the family, friends, and loved ones of Naya Rivera.
